Beautiful and functional  — 1 year ago

Our upholstered furniture arrived yesterday:

It took us months to figure out what we wanted and months more to implement it, but it’s exactly what we hoped for: comfortable, cozy, vibrant, and fun.

All inspired by the art quilt I got last year:

It works  — 1 year ago

I haven’t decided if I like this look or not, but these navy blue curtains are definitely more functional than the sheers they replaced. When we sleep over here (camping out on an air bed), it’s nice to not wake up to the first glimmer of dawn.

This, I believe, to be beautiful  — 1 year ago

It’s the first piece of original artwork I’ve ever owned. It may be the only one I ever own, since we mostly plan to use prints.

Closet  — 1 year ago

I started with my closet because the first thing we are going to move to the new house is our bed—aka: the best surface for sorting wardrobe items.

So, I’m aiming to have no clothes that I don’t like to wear. I found myself getting rid of things I bought a few months ago (mistakes, obviously) and keeping things that are over 15 years old, but still work for me.

I got about halfway through the closet—ironing as I went along so that everything I put back is actually ready to be worn.

Smart moving  — 2 years ago

I have an unprecedented, for me, opportunity to follow William Morris’ advice. The trick will be to move nothing that doesn’t meet those criteria.
