Cruz Luciano Hurtado Contreras in Nicaragua wants to expand his vehicle repair business. Since our truck is in the shop, lending to Cruz Luciano seems like good karma.
Mavluda Bobojonova paid back the loan she used for livestock.
Since I’m very excited about subscribing to a CSA that just started serving my area, I decided to make my loan to a farmer, Máximo Esquimo Jacobo of Peru.
Sad news about loan recipients in Kenya tonight as described here:

The very first Kiva loan I made was to a woman running a small cosmetics and lantern shop in Kenya to help pay the school fees for her two children. No word specifically about this family, but things in Kenya are bad right now. My prayers are with this family and all who suffer there.
In her honor, I made a loan tonight to a woman on the other side of the world who is also working to put her child through school. Meet Conchita in Nicaragua
Been a long time – I was frustrated with my PayPal account and didn’t get it straightened out very fast. So, four at once to catch up a bit.
Mavluda Bobojonova (mother, grandmother, and farmer) for cattle in Tajikistan (inspired by Faustus who loaned to a similar business yesterday)
Yorleny Nazareno (young mother and beauty consultant) for cosmetics, jewelery, and clothes in Ecuador
Edith Osagie (mother of 6, shopkeeper) for improving her business in Nigeria
Sarah Oyhiokiliome (mother, fishmonger since 1971) to expand her business in Nigeria
I chose to make a loan to the owner of an autobody business in Mexico because I got rear-ended last week and will be needing some autobody work myself. This seemed like a way to make a positive thing out of that.
Like Bibliomane, this may take me awhile, but it’s a worthy thing to spend time and money on every few weeks for the next couple of years if that’s what it takes. I made my first loan in January at the invitation of bookish. So, I guess it’s time for another.
