So, one of the books waiting for me at the library was Austenland by Shannon Hale. I’ve recently read a couple of Hale’s delightful fairy tale style books for young adults, but this one’s different. It’s kind of Bridget Jones Diary for readers.
Our heroine, Jane, is a thirty-something single woman in Manhattan harboring an obsession with Mr. Darcy, particularly Colin Firth’s Darcy from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (let’s all now join in a collective sigh). I just started reading, of course, but it looks like the adventure is about to begin—Jane has just been given an all-expense paid trip to a resort in England where for three weeks she will be immersed in the year 1816.
I’m celebrating by going to the library!
How about some mums?
