In January, we set up a simple budget system based on our credit card bills which is where most of our discretionary spending occurs. For the first month, we were under budget, saving money for expenses in the next few months.

A plan  — 4 months ago

We went round and round on how we wanted to do this, but I think we finally came up with something workable, not too complicated that we won’t do it, but robust to get what we need from the process. So, we have a budget goal and a spreadsheet to go with it. On our way to a budget-minded 2008!
