Finished with part-time, temp work  — 1 week ago

The person I was replacing had her last chemo treatment last week, so I worked my last few days for her last week. I did usability testing on their website and it really was helpful in pointing out the problems, some with very easy solutions.

I’m quite glad to be done with this for now. It was fine in the winter, but was getting to be more and more stressful each time I went in. But, it turns out it’s going to be cool here one night this week, so maybe it’s just as well that I haven’t got my planting done.

Last week  — 4 weeks ago
  • submitted, with the help of other SIG officers, 17 programs to the conference committee. Last year we submitted 8 and I would have been happy with that. This is almost an embarrassment of riches, but they’re all good ideas, and it’s the conference committee’s job to figure out if they can make time and space for all of them.
  • participated as a member of a panel of a morning-long technology in libraries session. My presentation was well-received and the sharing portion at the end went really well. Large attendance, too—about 50.
  • worked for 2 days at my part-time, temp job.
January review  — 3 months ago

Only fully met one of these goals. I did a practice wiki for demonstration purposes, but have yet to implement the real thing. I did go to the meeting. I haven’t yet submitted the presentation proposal, but may get that done today.

Librarian goals for the next six weeks  — 4 months ago
  • start a wiki for the Missouri Library Association 2008 conference
  • attend the conference planning meeting on January 10 as acting chair of the Hospitality Committee
  • submit a presentation proposal to the Federal Depository Library meeting planners
2008  — 4 months ago
In 2008, I plan to:
  • write up a proposal to speak at the Federal Depository Library meeting in Kansas City in the spring
  • shepherd at least 8 programs to successful presentation at the Missouri Library Association conference in St. Louis in the fall as chair of the Computer and Information Technology SIG
  • present at least one of those MLA programs myself
  • do all that I’m asked and more as a member of the Hospitality Committee for the MLA conference
