Can Live, but not Converse 4 years ago

I can rent an apartment, buy food, and generally get around in Italy, as long as no one asks me to have a real conversation or write something. Che peccato, after six years living there! Of course, I left almost ten years ago and rarely have the opportunity to practice. I’m using tapes, flashcards, CD-ROMS, and some books to work on my reading and writing Italian, and I think that will help my speaking and listening fluency when I need it.
