I felt it was weak. There were some cringe-worthy moments, but on the whole, I feel that the sub-story that comes out at the end (with Joubert [sp?]), really took away from the main story. I kind of would’ve liked to see a really morbid ending for this one, rather than a story with an optimistic ending. That’s one reason why I like the film version of The Mist so much. The ending is different from the book and MUCH more disturbing and effective.
Starting Rose Madder now (I can’t find a copy of Delores Claiborne ANYWHERE in the stores or library, and my husband’s ex took his copy way back when).

Just finished “Needful Things.” Not bad, but I am getting a little tired of King blowing up/burning down towns and/or homes at the end of his books. It’s starting to get a little old (Carrie?, ‘Salem’s Lot?, The Shining?, Firestarter?, Roadwork?, It?, The Tommyknockers? I could go on). Enough already. I’d prefer a little more originality.

“The Tommyknockers” was just AWFUL, but I thoroughly enjoyed “The Dark Half.” I skipped “The Stand” which was technically next, because I’ve read it three times already. I am now on story three in “Four Past Midnight.” The first two were very good, and I’m looking forward to the rest.

Book 2 of The Dark Tower was better than book 1. My husband tells me it’s book 3 that grabs you.
LOVED The Eyes of the Dragon.
Struggling to make it through The Tommyknockers, though. It’s laboriously slow.

I finished Different Seasons (I liked “The Breathing Method” best), Christine (which I felt was a slow-starter, got better in the middle, but never seemed to have a clear picture of WHAT the evil was – was it the car, or her previous owner? Did Christine corrupt him, or did he infuse the car with his hate? It didn’t seem to ever make up its mind), Pet Sematary (one of my favorites), Skeleton Crew (if you’ve never seen the movie of The Mist, go out and get it – and watch it in black and white; it’s great), The Talisman (which I thought was also a little slow at the beginning, but really picked up, and I ended up thoroughly enjoying it), and Thinner (which was pretty good, but another that seemed to cover the same ground multiple times in the beginning, and so took a while for the story to take off).
I’m currently reading It (for the second time).

Not quite sure about it, but my husband says to stick with the series through book 2 at least, before I judge. It didn’t grab me the way King usually does. It seemed very far from his usual style.

I finished Firestarter, which was, I think, one of the most fun to read of King’s books so far. I’m almost through Danse Macabre, after which I will begin Dark Tower I.

I finally found a copy of Firestarter at a used bookstore, so I am in the middle of that now. I am also reading Danse Macabre, but I find it hard to concentrate on that while, say, on break at work. So I am reading them concurrently, one for “light” reading, and the other when I have more quiet an leisure.

I finished Night Shift. I thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly Quitters Inc. and Strawberry Spring. I am currently reading Cujo. Technically Firestarter was next, but my husband’s ex girlfriend took a lot of his books when they broke up, including that one, and I haven’t been able to find a copy in the bookstore yet. So I will read it next. Or after Danse Macabre.

I finished The Dead Zone. Not bad, but it felt episodic. I am nearly finished with Night Shift, which I have been enjoying.
