Compose a complete song with music and lyrics

I’ve got to get moving on this. It’s very frustrating to not be able to make time to work on this . . . there’s just too much going on, too many crises to handle, always pursuing money to stay afloat. I have music going through my head almost all the time. I’ll get some words going through my head and a tune to go with and at least jot it down on a piece of paper. And then it sits and then gets put in a pile of paper here or over there or put in this place or that box. By now it wouldn’t surprise me if I had a couple of hundred of these little song ideas. And they sit.

So I got an upgrade to OS X but my computer didn’t get GarageBand put on it. I went looking for another computer that had it and found one. So another guy actually made the transfer from that computer to one of the servers and then to my computer and his. He was able to open it right up; for some reason we can’t figure out, the program came into my computer as a folder, not a program.
So I couldn’t open it.
If I can’t resolve that, then I’ll have to use someone else’s computer!! Not convenient, but it’ll get something done.

I get SO irritated when I write something, click on save, and it’s GONE.
I had an entry about Garage Band, my new computer, the software I don’t have, blah, blah, blah.
No lyrics at all this week, blah, blah, blah.
Gone.

Well, I found out yesterday that many of the Macs in our office have some kind of music composition software on them called something like Garage Band. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get some regular access to one of those so I can explore the possibilities. 8^)

Starts and stops, snippets of music and/or words and/or rhythm. A phrase or two, enough to hopefully get me on the right track when I actually get seated at the piano or the keyboard or somewhere in some quiet time. I have notes on notecards, on scraps of paper, in various journals, and definitely not in any one place. That in itself is a challenge, maybe deserving of its own goal. Ha.
Also been trying to search for some freeware music composition software that I could maybe use on my lunch hour on a computer at work. I know the software requirements would be covered. Still early in the search, I haven’t found anything for Macs yet.
And that’s where I am.
