It occurs to me that the typical tea fare is nossogood for someone who is diabetic. And so I need to find some quick and easy recipes that I can serve for diabetic friends/family so we All can enjoy.

Hmm. I’m wondering if a big tea party is the way to go. I’m thinking I would like to have smaller, more frequent, more intimate tea parties. I’m all for intimacy these days, you know? It is inspiring me to finish a special tea party tablecloth I am cross-stitching. Perhaps for the first one, I will just have Kate, Ann, Grandma, and 2 children. So I’ll limit each tea to 6 people. I’ll make a simple sandwhich myself, and just buy other treats to fill in. In taking inventory, I notice I have 3 lovely tea pots and 12 varied sets of tea cups/saucers. Somewhere I must have a creamer and sugar container. And I think I might only need a tea cozy or 2, perhaps with 2 more strainers. Now that simplifies things, makes it manageable, quaint and easily repeatable. Yup. I think that’s what I wanna do alright!
noiire of 43t suggested lemonade. Good idea I have a lavendar lemonade that would work well.
I like this website as a first-time, keep things simple set of instructions.
I just found a lovely tray that was my mom’s to serve the sandwiches and scones from.
Devonshire cream is easy to find here. I’ll check Restaurant Depot to see if I can get small jams. OR, I have 4 small and pretty martini glasses I can put jam in, or find some clever inexpensive serving thing just for that.
Still simmerin …
Kate, her kids, mom, and grandma; Her grandma and my mom go together well. My sis and her daughter. My 2 nieces. Lauren and her mom (who is my mom’s friend), Lauren’s daughter and 2 sisters. Jamie and Heri’s mom. Sharon. Sheri and her daughter. Barb. Donna. Ann. That’s 22 so far. Heri might be the token guy! That’s 23. My place is small. Gotta think more about this. Perhaps they might have to bring their own chair. Oh and me! 24. That makes a dirty 2 dozen!
I need an iPod playlist for tea music. That’ll be fun!
I think I might have to rent some tea pots/cups. I have some, but not enough for 24.
And if I’m really clever, I’ll combine this with my other goal of making balloon animals!
I decided that I didn’t want to take on the Cooking part of a tea party. So I hired my friend who is a caterer. I have some lovely teapots and will find out how to really serve tea well. I’m hoping to time it as a little garden party. My garden is Very small, but I’ll be giving it a cheer-up soon and will celebrate early summer with tea on my deck. I’m looking forward to having my friend’s 4-year old daughter here! It will all come together at just the right time, I’m sure. :)
