Being aware of a bad posture is already half the battle. I’ve found myself sitting at a desk and generally slouched over my notes, until I look at my reflection in the window and think ‘yikes!’. I only realise how bad I’ve been treating my back when I stand up later and feel aches and pains on my lower back. Sooner or later I’m gonna be able to realise it without even looking at the mirror.

My back hurts like crazy because I haven’t been sitting correctly in my lectures today. It’s all my fault I suppose, but at 9am in the morning it’s sometimes hard to remember to sit straight with your back against the chair and your feet flat on the ground… I’m going to have to find a new way to remember to have better posture, I suppose.

I’m determined to finish this goal – God knows it’s been on my list long enough. I caught my reflection in a shop window the other day, and I was just horrified at how much I slouched. This has got to change, not only because it’ll look much better, but there’ll be the physical benefits with it too.

One for the New Year!  — 5 months ago

This is going to be the first on my list of New Year’s resolutions for 2008. Not that it wasn’t on my 2007 list, but I would keep forgetting about it and I really do have a terrible posture. I want to sit up straight and walk properly. Not only will it be good for my back health – I should know better as I practise yoga – but it looks attractive to have good posture.
