Even if I haven’t completed school yet. In fact, I’m just starting. The point is… it’s actually happening this time.

So, the meeting with U of Phoenix campus in Las Colinas was great. So great, in fact, that not only am I enrolled, but I start classes next month. I gotta go to the campus every Wednesday night, but I certainly don’t mind sacrificing one night a week.
Until I have nine credit hours under my belt, I can only take one class at a time. So, I’m starting with what EVERYONE starts with—it’s basically Business 101. After that, I’ll take anything else that’s required, and CLEP out of some courses as well. Then, I dive head-first into the rest of the required stuff. I’ve gotta have 60 hours before I can start any of the business-based courses, so I figure the more I CLEP out of, the sooner I can get my BSB/Mkt degree.
As far as how this impacts Seattle… Phoenix has five campuses in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I can move whenever I want, and it won’t slow me down as far as school’s concerned at all.
I’m not in a hurry to leave though, so don’t get me wrong.
The University of Phoenix has offered up a nice little deal with their online program, which means I can still stay at home, and drive to their regional campus an hour away once a week. I know that right away it sounds bad, with the driving, but it’s a night class sort of thing, likely for taking tests which can’t be administered at home.
Anywho, I’ve got myself an appointment next Tuesday to discuss things like scheduling and financial aid. The way I see it, if I can grab a solid 30+ credits before heading off to Seattle, I’ll be better off. The local community college down the street, which was finally upgraded to a school with transferrable credits, also appeals.
I’m thinking I could pull a combo deal, and knock out all of the crazy easy required courses, as well as get myself established in the major of Marketing. The U of Phoenix campus in my neck of the woods happens to specialize in business… so it’s not a bad idea, actually.
...besides, Seattle can always wait another year, too. If I get myself into something good, I don’t necessarily want to blow it off just so I can move halfway across the freaking country.
