My grandfather lined the front yard of the house he raised his children in ~ also the house I was raised in ~ in several different types of trees ~ beautiful maples, magnolias, oaks, pines, dogwoods, tulip poplar… He did not live long enough to see this magnificent end result.
I am now about to move far away from this place & although I plan to return to visit family & even to marry in this beautiful yard late this fall I also know this will all be gone in a matter of a year or two (another story for another time).
I would love to at least do a 10th of what he did for the landscape here where I go. I can now only dream of grandchildren playing in a yard full of trees I planted… perhaps I just want to take this place with me… perhaps I am daydreaming… perhaps I am truly a treehugger.
But this is a goal I will at least have the fortitude to begin ~ & we’ll just have to see what happens from there I suppose.
