Work on my secret project

And now for the unveiling of my secret project!

I made a birthday movie for a friend who’s overseas!

My gorgeous friend is currently travelling through Europe, and it’s her birthday today… so as we weren’t able to send her anything, I thought it’d be nice to email through some birthday wishes. I managed to get hold of her former flatmate, ‘the girls’, and her older brother, to film little messages for her. Then I spliced them together and emailed the movie to her. Here’s the reply she sent to all of us:

This is the coolest present eva!!! So great to see u all! It brought tears to my eyes! Tears of joy ofcourse! Even better is that when I miss u all I can watch it over and ova again! Cool to chat to u over speaker phone today too girls, I miss u!!!!!!!

Off to catch my night train to the Nth of Spain for hiking! I found myself a mini bottle of bubbles so yay for me tomorrow night (its still the 28th here!) in the mountain refuge!

The only things that didn’t go to plan:

• I couldn’t get hold of the lovely guy she’s been seeing (and from what I gather, now emailing and phoning regularly). He lives in a town about an hour out of Melbourne, and in spite of my best efforts, I couldn’t seem to get my emails to reach him. I don’t know his last name either, so couldn’t google him or find him in the phone directory. He’s a lovely guy though, so I’m sure if he’d received the emails, he would have responded.

• One of our friends was in Tasmania, so I couldn’t catch up with her to film her. Her brother filmed her and sent it to me, but it was in .wmv format, and iMovie (the only editing software I have) couldn’t open the file for some reason. So as I couldn’t work out at such late notice how to convert it to a suitable format, I wasn’t able to splice it in with the rest of the movie. Just had to send it as an extra attachment.

Anyhow, the result is that she loved her pressie… and my secret project is now complete! ;-D

There’s one person whom I still haven’t been able to contact… I stole his email address from a group email (this will make sense when I explain it after Saturday)... but he hasn’t responded to me as yet. I’m not sure if this is because:

• my emails are being directed to his junk mail (as an unknown);
• he hasn’t checked his email;
• he thinks that I’m some complete nutter sending him emails and he’s totally freaked out!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any other method of contacting him without giving away the secret… fingers crossed my last email caught his attention.

There are two other people I need in order to complete this project to my original vision. One is pretty much organised, she’s just out of town at the moment… the other is a friend with whom things have become a little strained over the past few months. I’m hoping that she can see past this for the sake of this project, but I’ve had minimal response from her thus far. Oh well, whaddaya do?

I’ve contacted most of the people whom are to be involved… although I’ve had a hiccup or two, and a couple of people have been a little hard to pin down.

I really hope this works out… however I’m sure it will in the end.

... but is quite important, and involves organising a group of people (spread across the city) in a short space of time. If I’m successful, it’ll be completed by next Saturday ;-)
