Kynological Federation 1997, standard 328: Black mask, 29 inches tall, double coat. It says the largest breed is found in Russia, but gave two websites. 1) To pick the breed: www.caucasiandogs.com; 2) To find a breeder: www.cocaclub.us.
Wow. I’m so not ready for a dog, but atleast I know what I’m asking for. These things are huge, 180 lbs on the high end. That’s a lot of poop.
Next step – I’ll need to learn how to be the alpha parent, and how to correctly train, and interact with them. You can’t srew up with 180 lbs coming at you, or dragging you down the street. :)

I want to go to Russia to pick up a HUGE dog – Caucasian Mountain Dog. Kavkazskaya Ovcharka? One of the books I have says the Georgian Republic? I know there are few kinds. I’m not sure which one. I read you have to get them use to people and other dogs fast becuase they are so big it’s hard to un-train them once they are in control.
