So last month, I went to visit my youngest brother who lives in North Carolina. I drove the supposedly 8 hours and 21 minutes in one day with only my two young kids (ages 4 and 2). They’re great travelers, which is why I could do it in one day. I had tentatively planned to stay the night after driving half way, but I gave my oldest the option. I said, “We can either spend the night in a hotel or keep driving.” She said, “Let’s just keep driving, Mama.” A girl after my own heart. ::smiles::
We had a great trip all around from the drive down, the visit, and the drive back. I have to admit that I was a little nervous. It’s been a while since I’ve taken such a long road trip. But it went so well that I told my brother we’ll try to make it a yearly visit.

This goal encompasses many areas. I want to be more adventurous in general, of course. Hard to do with two kids, though. I feel like I have to plan everything in minute detail. Not impossible, right?
And some of my goals tie into this already: go hiking and backpacking, take a cross-country road trip, be more spontaneous, travel the world, etc. But I also want to have more little adventures: take an unexpected road trip. Decide to visit a big city (DC, Baltimore, Philly), pack a few things for us, and just go.
I also want to be more adventurous in my personal life. It takes two…. I am making progress, however. It’s always nice to try new things. Maybe I’ll finally look into exotic dancing. I’m sure that would encourage experimentation.
