Save money

I’m getting pretty discouraged with money lately. I have about $2,000 saved which would probably be 5x that if I hadn’t bought a car. Kind of stressing out since I’m leaving my job July 30th to go back to school and I have no where near as much saved as I wanted to. I’ll go a week or so without spending really anything except for gas. Then in one weekend I’ll drop $80, I need to be stricter with myself and really focus at the task at hand. My plan for all of July is to put at least half my paycheck into the savings account. This is completely manageable with some discipline. I need to take advantage of the fact that I have minimal bills to pay.

I would say every since my first job I have been a pretty decent saver. But it seems lately; in the last few years my ability to save has completely disappeared. It started with the purchase of my car in Feb 07 and it’s been pretty much down hill ever since. Now is the time I need to be saving and it’s more a struggle than ever. It’s quite discouraging.
