make someone smile every day

I just love this goal, and the warm happy feelings you get from knowing that you somehow made someone’s day just a little bit better. Today at the hotel where I work, we had a couple check in who had their honeymoon in our hotel and came back tonight to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. So as a surprise I sent them a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, compliments of the hotel with a card wishing them the best. They came back and found me to thank me for the surprise saying how it was such a thoughtful surprise and just made the night perfect. They were absolutely glowing in how happy and grateful they were that someone took the time to do something special for them on such an important day. It just makes me wonder how much happier we would all be if society as a whole would adopt this goal and go find little ways to brighten someone’s day just to give someone something to smile about.
