Create a light box (for photography)

I wore through the shutter button on my camera so I’ve been out a camera for a while. I’ll most likely pick this back up when I get another camera (hopefully something like the Canon 5D MarkII!)

I got inspired last night when I wanted to take some pics of some computer junk I’m giving away. I wanted to post the stuff to freecycle but I don’t want crappy “I took this picture on my kitchen table pictures” (It’s my junk and I can be picky if I want to :).

Well, the lightbox was an utter failure for (at least) two reasons:
a) I whipped it up in about 10 minutes with a tiny cardboard box and printer paper
b) I didn’t have a decent light source. 60 watt incandescent bulbs installed in the ceiling don’t make great lightbox sources :)

I’m going to get some better lights and some thinner paper when I have some unbudgeted money. A bigger box shouldn’t be too hard.

BTW: I ended up taking a bunch of crappy “I took this picture on my kitchen table” pictures. It seems I’m lazier than I am picky. :)
