Truck 2 years ago

As summer fades off, caterings are not much required anymore. To continue on our quest for our restaurant, we’re taking a look at Taco Trucks. This was actually the original idea as a step before the restaurant. We have taken a look at two trucks already, and we very much liked the second one. We’ll see how this unfolds…



Two caterings 2 years ago

Last weekend, we served two caterings. They turned out quite well. With each catering we do, we become more comfortable and at ease, but still, the work is very stressful. Unlike a restaurant, catering on site brings about extra challenges of transportation, food preservation, preparation, storing, serving, and bringing along ALL your supplies…

While I’m liking it, and it’s serving us as preparation to open our restaurant, I’m just hoping it’s not deviating us or slowing us to accomplish our main goal.

We’ve booked both next Saturday and Sunday with one catering each! This next week will be filled with a lot of planning, shopping, and preparation :)



Our first catering 2 years ago

We just did our first catering yesterday on a glorious sunny Sunday. It came out OK. The customers were pleased, and we got through it. However, we have a ton of things to go through because there’s ample room for improvement and much tweaking in the logistics.

I’m not even going to write more today because I’m literally beat. I was so dehydrated that I surpassed by far my already done goal of drinking more water. I was so exhausted yesterday that I went to bed before 10pm after just putting the leftover food in the fridge and leaving everything unwashed and unkept. This morning we did some of it —a process interrupted with a 3-hour siesta ;) lol

But we STARTED!! And the good news is we got at least three leads for more caterings. Our calendar is beginning to fill up! :)



"Rehearsal" 2 years ago

Before opening the restaurant, we decided to start serving events on site.

We had a party at our place this past weekend, which helped us rehearse for our already-launched entrepreneurship. This was the culmination of hard work and planning. There are still many things to do, but this just got us rolling.

Beforehand, we brainstormed for the name, tag, and slogan. In parallel, I worked on the logo and the general image to be used until we were happy with what it conveyed. We proceeded to print business cards, and the business and its image have had wonderful acceptance so far. We next need to look into trademark and other legal issues. Meanwhile, I’m still working on the business plan…

We are very enthusiastic about this extraordinary project.

Major withdrawal from the library 2 years ago

After returning about 10 books, we checked out another good 12 or so books to get a lot of ideas. I’ve been reading and jotting down in my “visual portfolio” :)

Research 2 years ago

We checked out a few books from the library, and I started reading one of them. Books are always invaluable resources of information. They’ll help us much with all the planning phase.



Coming out of a "restaurateur's block" 2 years ago

Thoughts, ideas, concepts, plans, and plenty of into-the-night talks have come and gone for a few years; everything was in the air. But we decided to make it happen and began taking steps towards it. It started with me coming to Seattle over three months ago. But after this time, things hadn’t really rolled; we were in an unwanted hiatus —a restaurateur’s block if you will.
The unblocking finally arrived yesterday —coincidentally with the new moon— after finding out we’re having a catering in 2 weeks. Even though our main aspiration is to open a restaurant, we’ll be starting with a catering business, which will be a side thing we do for the restaurant.
So we’re starting with the immediate stuff we need —name, logo, and business cards to pass around at the catering. We already have much written down for our business plan, but now it needs to be put together and specific duties to be accomplsihed. I’m already into the hype; this is such a good start :o)
