Today is my third day of vegie juice & dried fruit breakfast. I have to say I’m liking it!!
Today I bought the low salt version of the juice & it is SO much nicer. In fact I could probably drink the whole bottle today, but I won’t.
I feel less weighed down & I think I look fresher & more alive, maybe that is my imagination though!
It totally makes me want to have a raw lunch too though. I need to work towards this.
My chickpeas that I am sprouting (to add to my raw repertoire) are looking really great too. They are all sprouting tails!!
Day one of the experiment went very well. I had two glasses of vegetable juice yesterday (and today!) as well as some dried fruit and I had this throughout my morning instead of a full on meal in the morning. I like the way that I feel lighter & not weighed down by the bulk in my tummy. I have quite a sensitive stomach that is upset easily but I think I have felt an improvement in this approach.
One other positive thing is that it has made me think a lot about the food/drink that I put into myself for the rest of the day. While I’ve not been as good as I could be (I accepted a cookie from my father!) it makes me think more, like I was considering a coffee as a treat & was all “WHAT? NOOOOOOO”
I know coffee is bad for me but I have the odd one on cold days… I don’t think this will continue. I used to drink it daily until some point last year where I gave it up & saw huge health benefits!
I mentioned my experiment to Robert & he sounded keen to try it too. We need to get a blender! & look at costs etc. We can grow a lot of vegies to include but need to look at fruit.
Yummmm!
More to consider.
I think I will continue this experiment tomorrow. Not sure how it would work on the weekend as I often do brunch instead…
1. Chickpea sprouting in progress
2. I’m trying something new today that quite excites me!
Instead of my usual breakfast of muesli with soy milk I am having vegetable juice instead. It’s a blend of:
Carrot, Tomato, Spinach, Celery, Beetroot, Parsley, Watercress & Lettuce.
Since I bought it, it does also have salt, vitamin c added & ‘spice’. I think it is a bit TOO salty for my liking but I saw that they also have a low sodium version so I might try that too another day.
Basically I wanted to see how much a bottle would cost me ($4NZD on special for 1 litre, usually about $5) and whether I would get hungry if I drank as much of that litre as I like until lunch time when I will have my usual muesli.
I like the idea of smoothies/juices for breakfast. The bottle states one glass = three servings of vegetables & I am on glass two. I also had a small handful of sultanas before I left the house.
So depending on how this goes today I might have to get a blender (I only have a food processor) & get working on my own organic creations :D
I must say that the vegie juice is kind of like drinking cold soup. I do like cold food & happily eat cold soup often so it’s kind of odd starting the day with that.
It’s going well so far (at a whole 9:30am) but like I said I am on glass two!
I’m feeling good about this experiment :D
I’ve not sprouted anything… :( Will endeavour to do it this week.
BUT my partner is getting into it & has started making us salads too :)
I’ve finally found a little time to start some more reading on this topic. Just online, e-books etc. Much much more to learn however.
I’m going to try sprouting this week!
Okay this is an interesting new development!
Last night for half of my dinner I had a PACKED sandwich full of salad & it was great. I know bread isn’t raw but for me this is small steps. Then today I just wanted a salad SO BAD. It was not a completely raw salad either but it was the lettuce & tomato that I was coveting.
I never like salad that much as a kid, I think that’s changing. Obviously one cannot live on salad alone but I am really enjoying having them in my diet!
my main way of incorporating more raw into my diet has been to make more salads to have with our main meals. We share the cooking duties so right now I am still in the stage of getting my Monsieur used to the idea of having salads. He uses a lot of seeds in his meal preparation so that is something good also.
I’m going to just keep at this & make sure it becomes a regular sort of thing & then plan a next step.
Shayleah, I plan to start on that info today! My Dad can’t meet me for lunch so I will read instead :)
