I’m still working on a quilt. Today my friend is teaching me how to tie one off. I’m really looking forward. Plus I can help her get hers set up because she can’t do it by herself. So I get to do something for her. My quilt is coming along. I’m slow at it but I don’t want to be quicker I want to enjoy the time I spend on it and not feel rushed. I will cut some more fabric today and I will do it slowly and enjoy doing it. I think my favorite part might be ironing out the pieces. It’s kind of funny because I’ve always hated ironing and now I find a pleasure in it.

I love how my goals all run together. So the quilt I’m making with my new 92 year old friend is coming along beautifully. I LOVE doing this. I’m so relaxed cutting and sewing and then I get to see the progress. I’m impressed with myself. My friend is teaching me to make a quilt called Attic Window. It looks much more complicated than it is. I’m not suppose to tell anyone that. We have so much fun sharing fabrics we come up with for our quilts. I’ve always liked being in a fabric store but I know my appreciation for different prints and fabrics has intensified greatly. I notice patterns all the time and colors and textures too. I also like the idea when I have clothing that I’ve always loved but can’t wear anymore I’ll be able to put them in a quilt. This experience has been wonderful and I think I’ll be quilting into old age. I have enough squares made now to start sewing them into larger blocks. I’m so glad I found my new friend.

So yesterday I delivered meals on wheels. While delivering to a 92 year old woman on a big old farm she asked me to stop a minute and see what she had been doing. She had been trimmimg squares she had been working on for a quilt. I was excited and told her how I had made a goal to make a quilt – though I’ve never done it before. She then spent quite a while showing me her quilts she had done. There were so many different kinds and she spent time telling me how she made them. Now I have a new friend to help me with my goal. I love coincidences. PS: She had some squares layed out on the ironing board and I told her I liked her old wooden ironing board. She told me her brother had made it for her as a wedding gift. :):)

I want to make a quilt and donate it to a charity for the 2008 holiday season. I’ve never made a quilt before but I’ve always wanted to and I’ve always loved quilts.
