Volunteer

So I went to MUST today and everyone is sooo nice! I was amazed that there are so many services offered in this one little place. People in need can come and get everything from groceries to clothing(good clothing) for free. I was amazed to see all of the donations. There is a pantry bigger than my apartment stocked full with items from people like us. And local grocery stores donate perishable food daily that goes right out the door. And the clothing section is like a little Macy’s. There’s also a job counseling program and a computer lab. The people there work so hard and I’m glad I’ll be able to help.
So I’m going to be a floater for now. I’m mainly going to make and deliver bag lunches to the children of local families in need. They are out of school so no free lunch program to help. And when I’m not doing that I’ll do whatever else needs to be done. I’m going every Wednesday starting next week (maybe more?)so I’ll post then with an update.

So I’ve known about this local organization, MUST Ministries, for a while now and always thought it may be a place I would enjoy volunteering. There are always a more reasons NOT to do something but my main thing stopping me was being able to commit regularly and actually be involved instead of showing up once every blue moon. But then again, I’d rather volunteer when I can than not at all. With that said I picked up the phone and I’m meeting with the volunteer coordinator Monday to see where I can help.:)
