I still need to take the test (and I will not be anywhere near my MindGym book today), but I think I have done this.

Usually people focus on the part of optimism that has to do with the future. “Things will go fine” or “Things can only get better”. But isn’t there also an aspect that deals with the current situation and with worst case schenarios, a belief that the worst that can happen is not so bad after all?
Sometimes I have a feeling that optimism combined with software testing might not be a good thing. Would an optimisting tester expect to find bugs? Or expect not to?
This is (one of) my MindGym goal(s).
Currently my scores in their optimism test are:
Flexible optimism: 38
Pessimism: 19
Unrealistic optimism: 16 (see Note)
Unrealistic pessimism: 21
I want to bring my pessimism scores to 12 or less.
I’m not sure to test it in the end as having used that one optimism test already might affect the results.
Note) For those of you familiar with the test: My real score would be lower but I really really have no reason to doubt my closest friends if they say my cooking is yummy. :)
