Vaihtopaikka

As this is a neverending project, it seems, I always keep my eyes open for good ways to recycle/donate stuff.
What I recently found is http://www.vaihtopaikka.net , a shop-like place in Helsinki where you can bring stuff free and take stuff for free. I think they will be getting a big bag of things when I’m closeby next time.

About a week ago I gave away a box of stuff at Kierrätystehdas event. Now I’ve added some more things into the box and photographed some other things in order to auction them away though huuto.net or Ebay.

One of the boxes I had was sold empty at the fleamarket and I got about 85 euros from the stuff.

I now got a shelf at a fleamarket and brought there piles of video tapes, books and other things. I tried to price them low (tapes 0,15 to 0,30 euros), so I hope they will get bought.

I tried to rent a shelf from a fleamarket but they have a waiting list over a month long. Seems silly.

I’d want to get things recycled properly but without a car it’s tough to get the electronics to the recycling point, many kilometres away.

This is an ongoing, possibly almost neverending process to me.
Maybe I can announce here some of the things I want to give away?
If you are in Finland and in need of any of the following:
1. A exotic firewall devices that uses smart cards ( + many smart cards to go with it)
2. science fiction and fantasy books
3. non-fiction books
4. a portable cd player that also plays mp3s
5. a false braid
6. bought films on VHS in good condition
7. various computers (PCs) in unknown state
let me know. You can come pick them up if you are in Helsinki area or I can ship them to you at the cost of the shipping.

I’m trying to auction some of the things I pruned on a Finnish auction site. Wish me luck.

Magazines I got rid of by taking a pile of them to the laundry room of this apartment building. There was already a small pile of magazines for recycling-reading.

Some of these things have made great random gifts. My sister got some art books, her SO will get some aromatheraphy books, Tanda a book on calligraphy, Lepo’s housemate a Lexx soundtrack. :)
