I wanted to learn because my husband is Dutch. Now we are getting divorced, so the motivation is dwindling.

I surprised my husband with “Goedemiddag. Hoe gaat het met u?” Unfortunately he responded with “I’m not good with smalltalk”. (Duh, I kinda knew that.) Still, I feel happy about this baby step.
I managed to say “Goedenavond” to my husband couple of days ago, thanks to the Laura Speaks Dutch podcast.
I have trouble finding time, or rather place, to practice Dutch on my own, in privacy. Any recommendations? I occasionally mutter Dutch to myself when walking, now.
Waar komt u vandaan?
Lately I have been listening to “Teach Yourself: Dutch conversation ” on my walks and in my spare time and now I can actuallt pronounce the lines above.
“Groningen is een grote stad” on the other hand still poses a challenge (those g sounds are tough!)
I’m now listening to Dutch podcasts. I can understand some things, but mostly I’m still guessing.
