I found a free copy of THE STORY OF MANKIND on the Gutenberg project webpage. They may have others, too. I think my library books are due tomorrow. Maybe I can get one on cd to listen to at work. Librivox might have some winners as free audio books, too. I’ll have to check.

I need to find a library, and get a card. But first I need a liscense to prove I live in Boston. And, before I get that, I need other proof that I live where I do. So, this goal is on hold for now.
There are 85 of these, and one is added each year.
I have read the following 11:
—1944: Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes
—1968: From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
—1977: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor
—1978: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
—1981: Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson
—1984: Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary
—1990: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry
—1994: The Giver by Lois Lowry
—1995: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech
—1997: The View from Saturday by E.L. Konigsburg
—1999: Holes by Louis Sachar
that leaves 74
