When I was a kid I could skate – in fact – I took lessons so I could more than skate – I could do semi-complicated manuevers backwards and forwards and even sideways! But that was when I was a kid. As an adult that is one of the things I let slip.
A few years back I bought new ice skates and they rode in my trunk – shiny & new. I used them once and my feet ached so back into the trunk they went.
This past weekend I went ice skating in Central Park with 2 of my sisters and 2 of my nieces. Once I got my balance I stopped clinging to the wall and headed for bare ice and I did not fall once! I even did a little skating backwards. While I would not qualify as graceful and my feet still ached, it was really enjoyable and I will get out there again this winter!
