find a church

I’m having other issues right now and this is going to have to wait. I know it is important and it is frustrating not to be able to take care of this right now, but I have other problems that are taking precedence. I AM going to do this…just not right now.

So I am at least – at last – taking steps toward this goal! No more excuses!

I’ve been looking around my area and I found three churches that I am interested in. One I’ve attended once or twice (including today) and I thought it was a really good, friendly experience. The others I have not been to yet, so that is my next step.

In order to do this. I realize that I miss the community and support system that my church in the past provided. My friends have their own lives these days and I rarely see them. I’m pregnant with my second child and my family is far enough away that they can’t be my support system, as much as they’d like to. So, I am getting the kick in the pants that I needed to head back to church.

I just realized my last entry for this was 6 weeks ago and I am no closer. Unfortunately, I am coming up on a very busy time with family things so I doubt that I’ll be any closer in a month. Sigh. I suppose this is on hold for now. I could give up, but I don’t want to. This is important to me.

Well, my husband has had surgery and cannot do any lifting so leaving him alone with our 14-month-old is out for the moment. So, for two weeks I’ll wait on finding a church – well, on attending one.

Yesterday resulted in putting off church today. My husband wound up in the ER and we didn’t get home until 9:30 pm. After all of the stress and so forth of yesterday, we all slept a bit late. So. It appears that he’ll be having surgery soon; he’s got to talk to the surgeon on Monday. If he’s not recovering from surgery, I’ll go next Sunday; otherwise, I might have to put it off a little. If he’s recovering from surgery, he shouldn’t be chasing after a 1-year-old, even if it is just for an hour or two.

I am planning on going to a Lutheran church up the street this weekend. I went several times before I had my son last summer, but never really got back in the habit of going to church. I enjoyed going to this church then, but the pastor has retired. I thought it was time to see if I still enjoy it. It seemed like a really friendly church.
