I think the first step should be to buy those archival plastic sheet negative holders. My old prints which aren’t in albums and old negatives going back 25 years or more, some of them are just thrown in a big old plastic shopping bag. I need to put them in proper, protective holders so I can get reprints and digitize them. Most of my old slides are already in holders, which are stored in binders. It should be a fun project and the reward (probably finishing after we move) should be that I have all my old pictures at my fingertips on a computer. I might even upload the best of them to Flickr!

This is part of the overall organization in my life. Several years ago (actually about eight) I bought my first scanner and scanned many pictures that were important to me. Not all of them, however. I want to get one of those printer/scanners that will allow one to scan negatives and color slides. That will help me to digitize all my pictures. I also need to scan many of the photographs of my youth and family that my mother has. It’s a major project, which is why I haven’t begun yet.
