1. I love Mexican food and make a mean Huevos Rancheros.

2. I’m attempting to “grow up”. I see people all around me who, on the surface at least, seem so much more mature and sorted than I do, and they’re often younger. That’s not to say I can’t function as an adult, just that I am possibly not as mature as most. But then part of me thinks ‘y’know what? Fuck it’

3. Don’t get me started on The Wire. I’m that clichĂ©d person who loves it and thinks it’s the best thing ever to have been on TV. I spent a long time while having nothing to do at work pouring over the Guardian’s re-up blogs.

4. I guess this is probably TMI but I have the worlds smallest bladder. I sometimes wonder whether people at work notice and think I’m a weirdo for getting up so often.

5. I’m proud of my dysfunctional family. Some people might be embarrassed of some of my relatives but I think they’re great. Maybe it’s because I don’t see them very often…;-)

Half-way! I really didn’t expect this to be such a struggle. Seems like I can’t pigeon-hole my personality into neat items as easily I as I thought I’d be able to, anyway, I’ll keep trying! Onward…

46. My newspapers of choice are The Guardian and The Observer but I also occasionally dip into The Times online as I’m fond of their travel section.

47. It really gets on my nerves when I go to the loo at work and someone’s in the disabled toilet. Everyone should know that that’s my toilet!

48. I love a countdown. I feel a little sad that the early Noughties trend for list shows has abated somewhat. I think it’s to do with trivia, nostalgia and, probably, a short attention span…

49. Despite being a die-hard atheist, I’m drawn to a lot of religious iconography. I think it’s the use of colour, particularly gold, that appeals.

50. I’m fascinated by life in the ocean. I’ve watched Blue Planet so many times and get really thrilled the deeper we dive and the more weird and wonderful creatures are discovered.

41. My car (a Ka), is called Peter and although I don’t use him much, whenever I walk past him I do tweak his “ear”+. Ahem…
+wing mirror

42. I mentioned Astrology in a post this week. As I said I am an Aquarian and in Chinese astrology I’m a Goat. I’m really quite typical of both of them.

43. I love texting more than any other form of communication. I realise this is somewhat worrying.

44. Having said that, for the most part I hate txt spk and always try to use proper spelling and grammar. I am fond of ‘lol’, ‘wtf’ and ‘btw’ though.

45. Even the slightest hint of racism can induce a stomach twisting, bubbling rage in me. I’m incredibly sensitive to it. Which can occasionally make living in a community lacking in diversity something of a challenge.

36. I hate hate hate conflict. It makes my insides curl up and die. I can be an impartial adviser to a spat or disagreement but if it involves me or looks like it’s going to get serious I can’t stand it.

37. A few years ago I had a moment of regression where I became a teen again. This manifested itself by an immersion in ‘emo’ and an obsession with My Chemical Romance. I followed them around this and other countries (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France…), met the band and all their support acts and crew on numerous occasions, met some great people and pretty much had a blast. I guess it was this which kickstarted my travelling bug. Now though I can’t help by feel totally embarrassed by it all!

38. When it comes to Beatles songs, I find that, completely by accident, the George Harrison ones are my favourites.

39. I have a birthmark on my left calf that looks like Papua New Guinea

40. I truly believe that iTunes/iPod shuffle knows. Having just typed point 39, I flicked a mere 2 songs ahead and out of 5606 tunes, the one that came up was Future Sound of London’s Papua New Guinea…spooky! Have that Derek Acorah!

31 - 35 2 months ago

31. I don’t have a middle name

32. When I was born I had jaundice. I was yellow and my eyes whites were green. I also had horns. No joke! I had two lumps on my head in the spot you’d expect horns to be.

33. I’m really contrary. I have certain non-negotiables but otherwise I change my mind a lot. I’m especially prone to this when people get passionate about something in a way I find annoying. Point in case: I believe people should have body confidence, but I get furious with Gok’s ridiculous campaign to have it on the school curriculum.

34. I would truly love to be thin and rich enough to be a slave to fashion and to ponce around in designer clothes and talk about how I picked up the latest Chanel or something

35. I don’t like Mars Bars.

26 - 30 2 months ago

26. I cry at the drop of a hat. I have no idea whether to be worried about my mental state because of this or not. I’ll only ever properly cry in private though but get choked up on at least a daily basis.

27. I love to plan. I approach anything that needs planning (especially if it’s a fun event) with verve and vigour. I just love the whole business of comparing and researching and trying to find the perfect thing. Probably should’ve been a party planner ;-)

28. Madonna once said she was a gay man trapped in a woman’s body and I’ve often thought this could apply to me. I do love being a girl though.

29. I’m a sucker for magazines. I like thick glossies, flimsy tat and anything in between.

30. I hate speaking on the phone. Face to face, email, text…fine. Phone though? Not sure why I dislike it so but it really bothers me, ick.

21 - 25 2 months ago

21. I am a superb baker. My cupcakes are killer. I’m especially fond of glitzing them up with edible glitter, gold buttons and sprinkles.

22. I’m a complete night owl. Left to my own devices I’m a get up at 11, go to bed at 2 kinda gal, I really struggle with mornings.

23. Despite not being especially tall I have big feet and big man hands. Nice hands mind (don’t mention the feet!), just larger than the average girl. Handy (oh, excuse me, that is an atrocious and fully unintentional pun) for some things, not good when trying to get bangles on.

24. I’d like to research my family history as I’m sure there’s some ethnicities in there somewhere that would be a surprise. And would hopefully cause some family scandal ;-) I know I’m a fair bit Irish but would love to know what the rest is.

25. I love Jamie Oliver and always have done. I used to tell my sister he was my boyfriend, not in some mental if-I-say-it-enough-it’ll-be-true way, just to wind her up. I think a tiny bit of her might have believed me. She would’ve only been 8 or 9 so fair enough really :)

16 - 20 3 months ago

16. Oreos are like crack to me. Once I start them I find it virtually impossible to stop. The thought of all the flavours and styles to be found in the US is making me quite giddy!

17. I hate drugs. Hate them. I have tried a couple but the effects have always been rubbish. I hate weed more than most because of what I’ve seen it do to people. Having said all of that, I often wish I could be/had been brave enough to get fucked off my face on Ecstasy and rave my ass off.

18. I have a slightly abnormal obsession with the number 5. I adore it. I like to do things at a time divisible by 5, for example I get up at 7:55am on a work day and have only just managed to train myself into getting out of bed at say 7:57 rather than waiting for 8am which I’d normally do. That’s why any list entries will always have 5 or 10 entries.

19. I’ve almost had every (vaguely natural) hair colour possible from streaky WAG style blonde highlights to jet black to bright red to chocolate brown. I’ve been dying my hair since I was 12 and think my hair is naturally a dull milky tea colour with hints of squirrelly brown/red, but I can’t be sure.

20. I really like emoticons. I know a lot of people hate them but I think they’re really cute. MSN have my favourite ones. My top one was one that was this face D: but in MSN proper-way-up, horrified form, alas I lost it when I changed laptops and have not found it again since :’-(

11 - 15 3 months ago

11. I barely drink alcohol unless I’m planning on getting drunk. So I don’t really have wine with meals or a G&T on a Summer evening and so on. My drink of choice is vodka and diet coke. A double if you’re buying, thanks!

12. I have beautiful teeth, I get a lot of compliments about them. This is despite not having visited a dentist for 13 years as I am too tight to pay for someone to count my teeth.

13. I’m 30, but the average age people seem to think I am is 23. Obviously this is a good thing but I’m unsure whether it’s attributable to my youthful good looks or my startling immaturity ;-)

14. I find it really hard to watch my food being prepared. If I go to a sandwich shop I have to turn away while they do it. I have no issue (usually!) with the end product, I just can’t bear to see it done in a way that would probably be completely contrary to my method.

15. I love modern art. I get it, that is, if it’s supposed to be got. I think it’s a lot harder than it looks and I get quite annoyed with people who are so dismissive of it. I’m especially fond of Barbara Kruger and pop art in general. Going back a bit I also love Van Gogh and was moved to tears the first time I saw Sunflowers in the National Gallery and also Dead Dad by Ron Mueck

6. I love dancing. Whether it’s knowingly badly or properly going for it, I don’t consider it a decent night out unless I’ve busted some moves. And I have to say I’m pretty good at it too.

7. I don’t like the trend for constantly putting kisses on emails/texts etc. or saying ‘I love you’ at the drop of a hat. I use these things when I mean them, I don’t want them to lose their special quality through overuse.

8. Wet tissue makes me feel sick. Yes, I can go to the toilet without issue before you ask but if someone puts a tissue on a gravy laden plate or wipes up something like yogurt with one it churns my stomach.

9. I find vampires incredibly sexy. I’m not in any way a stereotypical Anne Rice reading, occult dabbling, pale face but that doesn’t stop me liking a pointy toothed dude. True Blood is pretty much shit though, it’s like being walloped round the head with a frying pan made of ISSUES.

10. If the house was on fire and I had to rescue one thing, well, it’d be two things and they would be my toy bear and toy dog that I’ve had since I was born. The dog is a mess and a transvestite (seriously, he has a full on alter-ego and special dress) and the bear is the grumpiest looking kids toy you could hope to meet but they’re unique and I just could not let them burn.
