Clean up the yard for winter

There were other things I wanted to accomplish, but for the most part I got the yard winter ready. I still need to do these things in a more timely manner, but I am gradually getting better than I used to be.

I keep trying to get done outside, but I decided to put lights around the garage. While I am out there, debris from the winds is blowing around my yard, the street, and the neighbors(so it will end up in my yard) and I am spending my time picking up garbage. My list has been growing and growing for needed repairs around the house. There are many things that need attention inside and out. I am trying to make a list without getting overwhelmed by what is needed to be done. Cleaning up the yard and hanging lights is a good way to take inventory of the condition of the house.

I was going to go outside and work around the yard as I got nothing done out there the last couple of days. It was so windy and cold when I went out with the dog this morning; I think I will wait until tomorrow and Sunday. Whatever I get done over this weekend will have to be it for the year. I have a lot I need to work on in the house and I have to get started on those projects. I need to take the dog for a walk, but he really doesn’t want to go out. He’s afraid of the wind and the blowing leaves.

on the yard waste pick up for the season. I thought I would be done this week, but I have at least enough leaves and leftover yard waste to fill one more bag. I have a couple more bags of mulch to spread, and odds and ends to store in the garage. I am working today, but after church tomorrow I will have time to get some outside work done. I hope to spend some time working on the outside on Monday also. I swept out the gutters and cleaned off the sewer grate.

yard bags today. I should be able to clean the rest of the yard up tomorrow as far as leaves go. I have a couple more bags of muclch to spread and I would like to cut the grass one more time for this season.

as I had to wash off the outside of the gutter also. I have white gutters and they all have dark streaks on them. I decided to scrub the outside of each gutter after cleaning the leaves out of them. So I have one gutter cleaned out, scrubbed off, and Christmas lights installed. Tomorrow I should be able to progress faster as I have a good system down and the ladders are already dug out of the back of the garage. I will have a fully decorated house for Christmas. I will have to spend the entire day tomorrow and Sunday working outside to get leaves bagged and gardens cleaned out after gutters and lights are done, but I am up to the challenge.

I am on my way outside to pick up leaves, clean the rest of the gardens out, and clear the gutters while hanging the Christmas light hooks.

This past summer was a bust on the relandscaping. I spent so much money watering and it was for nothing. I as sure that I lost many of my perannials and the grass is a hot mess. I spent an hour and a half mowing and cleaning up leaves yesterday. I am going to the gym and then come back an spend another hour or so cleaning up today. I want to bag up as much refuse and get it out for the trash pickup this week. Gutters need to be cleaned out, and I hope to put up the hooks for the Christmas lights this week. I want to hang the lights early this year; so I am not fighting snow or sleet like usual.

This past summer was horrible for landscaping projects. It was hot and dry. I guess I should change this to Winterize the Yard, and just go around and start cleaning up the dead plants, mow the grass and trim the trees and bushes. I have to work today, but I am going to do at lease 1 yard bag worth of cleanup tomorrow.

I finally got the last landscaping timbers cut up from the garden I removed last year. I had to cut them up into 3 to 4 ft pieces. I also had to remove the spikes which didn’t seem to want to come out. The hand saw was good exercise. I also planted some more of the flowers I had purchased, picked up sticks, branches and garbage from the storm, and weeded a little. I am just taking a short break and I will drag the garbage can around to throw out the cut up timbers and a few other things that need discarded. Both patios are clean, and I started cleaning off the deck. I need to get the power washer out this week and start on the deck and fence. Finally getting things done.
