I tried to teach myself about four years ago, using some pretty good directions I found on the internet. I did make some progress, but it seemed tatting was the one thing I couldn’t learn from a website! Then I lost my tatting shuttles, so it became a moot point.
Step one was finding an inexpensive tatting shuttle in a craft shop a few months ago. Then I helped a friend start a new craft forum, Craft Wonderland, in March. Wednesday, I found 43 Things, and decided on my way to choir practice to add “learn to tat.”
So I get to choir practice, and one older woman who I absolutely adore sees me making a thread crochet head wrap. Guess what? She TATS! And she’ll teach me! Yay!
I can’t start for at least a month, but at least I’ve found a teacher! And it’s someone I enjoy spending time with! How cool is THAT?
