Bakeries and vending machines - the death of savings.

Work has been stressful so I’ve given up avoiding the bakery and vending machine. I can’t keep it up because it costs so much, but it’s hard to cut it out. I know I can do it, it’s just been a rough week or two.

Valentine's day - on the cheap

This can be a finance killer but I think I succeeded. My partner scored free flowers, he did buy chocolates but I made some cool decorations out of aluminium cans and tea candles. I cut the tops off and punched a design in with a pin. It seems to be safe and my partner thinks it looks really cool – awesome, a guy’s approval.

Hair straightening.

This has been a bit of a set back but has to be factored in. We have other bills coming up too so having to learn to think, I can’t do B this week because I’ve already done A and C is coming up soon.

Whether I keep it up, I don’t know. If our situation changes i.e. kids, I may need to reevaluate.

$9000 saved - $6000 to go.

It’s so hard waiting to get there, even though I know I’m saving quicker than others.

Delaying purchases.

Today I wanted to buy a piece of bedside furniture – more a basket of sorts to help me organise my possessions. Instead I took a cupboard of unknown origin out of the spare room and made do. I would have saved about $20-$30; you just don’t know, I may rely on that for my rent or food. As opposed to dipping into my savings that is.

$8,689.14 saved - $6310.86 to go

Working on keeping track of my money, slowly. Learning I need to delay somethings – this week had to transfer money from savings as I ran low before pay day. Don’t need to pay off c/card in one go, as long as it’s before end of the month.

Home decorating

Our rental is less than good condition (not our fault) so thinking of ways to cover up some ripped wall paper. Painting over an ugly painting that was on our wall, I don’t think it was valuable. If it was – too bad, it was ugly. Also going to print out some photos but on regular printer; at 10 cents a page, got to be the cheapest way of creating home art.

Have downloaded some bank records today, attempted to keep up with this last year but wasn’t too consistent.

$8000 - $7000 to go.

Deposited today: $300

Spent today: $12.80 at greengrocers.
