I did it. Today the last electronic payment went through. Just in time, too, since I’m off to be a full-time student within the next few months and won’t have the same level of income. Hopefully I can completely avoid credit cards. We’ll see. I’m keeping them at home, hidden away. :)

Only a couple hundred left to pay off. It took a while and a lot of self-control, but I’ve managed it. I just have to take care to keep it up.
I paid off my highest rate card, card #1. Now I will transfer the balance of my lower rate card, card #2, at the 2.99% (for the life of the balance). Now the rate on card #1 is lower for this new balance. I MUST keep from using my cards and immediately pay off my balances, before I even get a statement. There is no “try”—I must cancel my cable, phone and eat cheap if I have to before falling into the rut I’ve been in again.
It’s so important to take care and avoid using your cards. Most people don’t want every penny of their extra cash going to some big corporate bank that think it’s okay to charge people 18-25% interest if they make a single late payment in their life.
