This is so much easier to do 6 months ago

when I am on “vacation.”

A couple of weeks ago, our hospital unit was closed due to low census. There were times we were given mandatory PTO. To prevent this, the health care system has invited us to train the newly opened hospital in the network. Although it cuts back my “vacation,” it is a perfect time to learn something new.

The reason I was taking vacation at this time was to go to Darling 3’s soccer tournaments. Saturday, I got a soccer mother’s sunburn, despite using SP 50 sunblock. Yesterday, I had my picture taken for my ID at the new hospital. This was bad timing for a sunburn. I did not like my hair in the picture either. So today, I put on makeup and got my hair cut short. Makeup is not my habit, but maybe I’m in for a change. I like the cut, and am having fun wearing makeup. Time will tell.

There are many changes 7 months ago

occuring in the “health care system” that I work through. For many reasons, my primary division has closed down temporarily. It makes our staff the nomads of the hospital, being placed on inadequately staffed divisions. Also, there are changes being implemented in some of the more complex equipment we use. As usual, people tend to grouse about all the changes. I’m keeping my mind centered on the opportunity to learn some new things and to become more flexible within the system.

Every night the staff varies. So, every shift I tell every staff member how happy I am to be working with each of them that night. In the morning I thank every staff member for how they made the night go better. I get so sick of the complaining, and will fight it for my peace of mind.
