I am happy to say that he has made it home. He has leave for two weeks and has already been home for one. This being the reason I have not been on 43Ts for a while. Much time has been with him down the pubs of Manchester, or just having a laugh and getting up to general mischief. He’s in good spirits and has some crazy stories to tell. Unfortuantely, he has to go back in a week until June, but laready we have had great nights out and many a story to tell. Thanks alot for all your cheers and support on this one guys and dolls….part 1 is complete!
Thanks for all support….xx
I’m kinda getting tired of writing negative stuff on this site now, simply because I’dlike to think I’m a postive person who looks towards the best side of things. Two of his close mates over there have been shot and killed, and it’s just not reasuring to know he is in the line of fire. The sooner he’s home the better.
just spoke to him on msn, which really cheered me up because I’ve felt really down today. The troops arn’t allowed to ring home at the moment because there are incidents every day, and the army dont want them telling folk back home about it. bastards!
I’m really chuffed as my mate has managed to set up an msn account. I’m quite suprised as he’s not a computer sort of person. He’s more a super mario/sonic the hedgehog sort of guy. So I have been chatting to him during the week. It wasbrief though because they’re only allow half an hour each on the computers, but glad to hear he’s ok. I have his address now, so I am going to send him over some stuff for christmas. Just the essentials: the new David Cassidy greatest hits, a sack of marbles, leg warmers (there might be a chilly breeze at night,
and packets of stuffing ( it’s christmas and he loves the stuff).
One of my best was shipped out to Iraq two weeks ago with the British army. What people don’t know is that Iraq is still an extremely dangerous place with fighting happening on most days. Today was a major scare. I saw a report on the internet that read:
British soldier killed in Basra
The soldier was killed after an attack on an army base in Basra
A British soldier has died following an attack on an army base in Basra, southern Iraq, according to the Ministry of Defence. The unnamed soldier, from the 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, was killed when the base came under small arms fire. The MoD said the fighting did not result in any other casualties. This latest death brings the total number of British troops killed in operations in Iraq to 121. The soldier’s next of kin have been informed of the death. Britain currently has 7,200 troops deployed in Iraq and these are based around Basra.
This is the same battalion as my friend. Naturally, there was major panic from his mum and sister. He rang later this evening to say he was safe although the lad that was killed was his friend. I just saw the 10pm news and it was revealed that the lad killed was from wigan, and town not too far away. I cannot imagine how his family must be feeling. I pray for them, and I pray for the safe return of Chris. God speed mate.
