Sell things on Etsy

Vintage clothing, I’d really like to flip some as well.
I’ve seen plenty of clothing at garage sales or thrift stores that just need a lil TLC. Which is why I really need to get moving with this sewing class! I’d love to be able to sew something up, add lace, maybe some large buttons, collars, trims, add fabric, dye them different colors. There’s just so much you can do with an old piece of clothing to bring it back to life.

So I tried taking pics this weekend with clothes on my new dress form. Not good ): I felt so defeated. I don’t know…the pictures aren’t coming out like the ones they have on Etsy. Mine don’t look professional at all! I did do some research today, reading up on tips and all, so I plan to incorporate that with what I’m doing already. Taking good pictures are one of the most important things to do on Etsy! I HAVE to conquer this!

I was supposed to pick up a “Dress Form w/ Stand” the other day, but the lady who was selling it never responded back. I just about gave up, but then while browsing on CL I noticed someone selling a “mannequin dress form” and she was even closer, about 5 minutes from my house. So last night I went to her house, gave her the $ and now I am the owner of my very own (: I’m on my way…..

This is A LOT of work. Just to come up with names for my items is time consuming. I work full time and then another 3 hours on the weekend, not to mention…I’m a Mom before anything. I thought I could get this up and running right away..yah right! I gotta give it up to all fellow etsyshoppers who work and still have time for this. I’d say right now, I’m about 1/4 way there, and I feel like I’ve done so much already! Oh well, good things come to those who wait and I got time (:

I just want everything to be perfect!!!
When I start this up, I just want to know that I did everything possible. The weather has been still crappy out and I had planned on taking a few outdoors, so we gotta wait on that one. We got the shop announcement done, the name, and most items have been measured. We are still working on descriptions for them and then on to the pics! I’ve been reading a lot of etsy sellers advice and most of them say to focus on good picture taking. Everything seems to be falling into place, so we’ll just see if we can have this up and running in a few weeks (:

I have to admit, that after getting everything together for “inventory” Measuring, writing down what it’s made of and by who…it’s a lot of work!!
I am not going to complain though, I am grateful for finally being motivated and getting excited about something.
I told my bestfriend recently, I wanna work so hard at everything I do now, I wanna ache. (:

I had the most fabulous and fun weekend searching for my Etsy items. I can’t wait, I can’t wait!
Bought my digital camera, got some items, got the name picked out..now time to work on doing the page!

Is amazing. He is quite excited about my Etsy shop in the works. He too, has a love for vintage. When I came home from work yesterday, he had a little surprise for me…he did a some shopping and bought me a few fabulous vintage jackets (2 men, 1 ladies). The coat for ladies I absolutely LOVE! Thank God, it didn’t fit me or else I might of ended up keeping it! lol
He’s going to be my partner throughout this whole process.
It’s just wonderful. (:

This is my b-day present to myself. Ever since my friend introduced me to Etsy..I’ve been inlove. I have over the years collected vintage shoes, purses, clothes (some I still wear, some I’ve outgrown, some never fit at all, and some I’ve just bought knowing I could resell it) Since I’m right upstairs from a thrift store and a few minutes away from another one, this is something that would be easy, I would REALLY enjoy doing, and not to mention make a couple extra bucks. Not only that but the post office is right across the St. from me and I am on a company policy at my job to be able to send out things as well…so it only makes sense to do this already! I want to open my shop selling only vintage items (Bring on the 80’s!). I have my named picked out, I’m going to buy a camera this weekend and start by the end of the month..Happy Birthday ME.
