The time between agreeing to sell and closing is a slow unreal time, but we are officially not homeowners right now. We close on the new house in a few weeks – so the feeling of accomplishment isn’t quite there yet. The real goal is to get out of the house – not just sell it. So as we begin packing, the reality begins to set in, but isn’t there yet.

One of the single most annoying things about the selling process was people who would show up early for the showing. With 2 kids – it’s a pretty intense process cleaning the place. It takes an hour or more at least. Early on we got burned a couple times by people showing up 10-15 min early. So we started getting out of the house about 20min before the scheduled showing – only to have someone show up 25min early. So now we make sure we are out of the house 30min before the showing time. And even then – we have people show up 30min early. It’s nuts. It’s incedibly rude: I understand these people are the “customers” – but we going to all the trouble to make the house look nice for THEM and they have the nerve to show up whenever the please.
We have vowed never to do this to anyone while we are looking for houses. It’s pretty easy to just drive around the neighborhood – check out the houses nearby etc.

217 days on the market and we have a signed P&O with the amendment which completes the inspection contingency. I think the feeling of relief would be greater if we hadn’t also just started the house hunting process.
In my opinion, the buyers are being fair. We need a new circut breaker box, which was news to me – but we’re willing to put it in. The buyers wanted 200amp service for some reason – and I think they were trying to get it so they paid the extra for the 200amp upgrade so it could be done at the same time as the new breaker – but the buyer->realtor->realtor->seller communication game broke down and in the end they said to forget it and just get the new box.
Been on the market for 108 days, 14 showings, 2 price reductions, no offers. Hoping we get one soon, really getting sick of cleaning the place up.
Got a call at 11:30 that they wanted to show the house at 4:30. I was at work, but SuzShe was the champ and said, “Bring it on” and got the place in showing shape in plenty of time.
We tried the “We’ll get this list of stuff done, and then we’ll list.” And it didn’t work for crap. Finally we picked a date, got what we could get done done, and listed it.
