I’ve taken on the equal, yet separate goal of learning guitar instead. It’s easier because I actually already have a guitar. If I happen on an inexpensive accordion I’m still interested. May the universe drop one into my lap!

I'm inspired... 2 years ago

We recently got back from Slovenia where they brag that they invented the polka. We were staying near a local pub/restaurant and heard what sounded like a polka band. To our surprise it was just a boy (about 11 years old) playing an accordion. It was great. I was smitten (with the idea of playing an accordion, not with the 11 year old boy).

I think the accordion is slightly cheesy, but so much irresistable fun too. I hope that my background in piano would help some, since part of it involves keyboarding. It’s probably a good workout. And it would be nice to play something slightly portable for a change.
