If it weren’t for weekly yoga, I wouldn’t even be holding even. And I’m skipping tonight. :(



Backsliding 2 years ago

Been fairly good about doing some stretching after runs or climbing. But on the rests between, not so much. Also have been skipping the concentrated stretching in the evening and on days off. As a result, I’m almost as far back as when I started. sigh



Getting closer to this goal 2 years ago

I’ve been able to reach the ground w. the tips of my fingers for almost a week now. Not sure how to accurately measure my progress from here, so I haven’t been. But it’s heartening to have made such progress. Even with a logarithmic progression, I should be able to make my goal easily.



Got a baseline for how far I have to go. 2 years ago

Stuck a ruler between my toes last Wednesday to see how far my finger tips would go. Within 5 1/4” by my middle finger. Add 6 inches from the palm of my hand to the tip of said finger and we’ve got 11 and 1/4” (because I prefer decimals, I might change to metric later). On the next Thursday morning that measurement dropped to 3 1/4”. Yay! Then I didn’t measure for a while and wasn’t so good about stretching either (a few times, but certainly not every day). This morning I measured 3 3/4”, but after my morning stretches and run I was down to 2 7/8” (about 67mm?). Not optimal, but it gives me hope.

Now, given that I still have 330 days, why am I so eager to make strong progress now? Because I suspect it will be a logarithmic curve. Fast progress followed by slow, slow progress. The last bit will be the hardest. As the punch line a certain off-color joke goes…”Those are two HARD inches.”

I picked “Write more letters”. Still, for me this is the easier goal. I’d been pretty good during my xmas trip to see friends about working towards this. Was stretching everyday, but I’ve been slacking now that I’m home.
