Of course, the stoopid bureaucracy at the bank won’t automatically provide me with confirmation it’s paid, and won’t be able to do so until a month has elapsed after the final payment. At least that’s what the offshore call centre worker told me.

Less than 30 days.  — 11 months ago

Today I made an extra payment on my student loan that is enough so that on the next regular payment date, it’ll be the last. Hurrah!

It just crossed my mind that I started my degree when I was 30, and I’ll have paid for it by the time I’m 40. Cool.

Checked the remaining balance today. Amazing how it changes when you forget about it for a few months. I probably could have this paid off by the end of this summer, but then again, why be destitute as a result? Maybe try to have done by Xmas.

The real goal is to pay it off ahead of schedule. I did this the first time for my undergrad degree. I was debt-free for about 5 months – until I decided to go back to school. The repayment schedule for my current loan has a few years left to go, but my goal is to slay it by summer 2006.
