Oooh, update time again! 2 years ago

I just noticed that I hadn’t updated my weight loss in a while. Since my last stats update, I’ve lost 10 lbs, gained 5, lost five, so here are the numbers:

SW: 255 – Nov. 8/06
CW: 180 – Dec /07 (in the last month, it was 180, then 185, then back to 180)
GW: 125 (55 to go)

55 lbs. to lose doesn’t sound like a lot, but I bet it’ll take another year at least…

Holidays... 2 years ago

I’ve sooo fallen off the bandwagon for this goal. I can’t blame the holidays entirely; the boxes of chocolate, chocolate cake, gingerbread cookies, and candy cane ice cream lying around don’t help matters, but just because they’re there, doesn’t mean I have to eat them all right away. I know that, but do I listen? Nooo…Oh well, I haven’t gained anything as a result (thank GOD), but I’m feeling other strange effects from overeating the sweets (lethargy, overstuffed stomach…lol…I even have a wee bit of a racing heart at the moment, but I doubt that’s related to eating too much chocolate). I’m a wee bit worried about my shrunken stomach stretching out too, but a week of overeating shouldn’t do that when it took months to shrink it down. Well, I’ll be glad when all the junk is gone, but I’ll enjoy the process of getting rid of it too. The bright side? I’m still exercising (a bit), enough at least to burn some of the excess calories anyway…Things should be back to normal soon after New Years…hopefully. ;-)

Slacker 2 years ago

I’ve been slacking off on this soooo bad the last month…I know why, I’ve been consciously choosing to overeat (not much, but enough to not be losing like I was) the wrong foods, using the excuse that I’m stressed over finals and moving to my own place. My hopes is that by typing and posting this, I’m making myself acknowledge what I’m doing so I stop before I start gaining.

Setback 2 years ago

Well, it would seem I’ve regained the 7 pounds I lost in the last couple weeks from the interval biking, although I’m not sure why. It could be to do with my time of month, I dunno. I’ve also been going through more stress the last couple weeks with school and whatnot and although I’ve not been going too much over my calorie limit each day, I haven’t been eating as well as I did before school started. I bet it’s a combination of the two, but I really hope it comes back off and I keep losing. I mean, I’ve plateaued before, but I’ve never put weight back on except maybe due to my cycle, but I’m not due for that for a couple weeks yet. I just know know…all I know is it’s discouraging.

Sept. 4th Update 2 years ago

Another 10 lbs. gone my last weight loss update. Six of those came of in the last 2 weeks simply by doing 3 sessions of interval biking. I’m still amazed…so here’s what we’ve got:

SW: 255 – Nov. 8/06
CW: 190 – Sept. 4/07
GW: 125 (65 to go)

I have no clue how long it will take me to lose the last 65…it’d be great to be at my GW by summer next year…we’ll see.

Interval training... 2 years ago

I read an article in O magazine about interval training, on anything from a bicycle, to an elliptical trainer, or just to use for walking or running. I tried it twice last week and once this week and have already lost 2 pounds in just a few days after my weight loss slowing down to maybe 3-4 pounds in the month. It looks like it does what the article promises.

Here’s what I do, following the article’s recommendations:

-Start with 2 mins of easy to moderately-paced bicycling.
-Speed up to pedal as fast as you can for 30 seconds.
-Resume the easy to moderately-paced pedaling for 1-1 1/2 minutes.
-Repeat the cycle of sprinting and regular biking for a total of 30 minutes, leaving 2-3 mintues at the end for another easy to moderate pace for cooldown.

I’m stunned it’s working this fast. If you wanna know more, just google “interval training.” It’s especially beneficial for people who need to work out quickly (30 mins got me sweating like I’d been biking for over an hour). This was the first I’d heard of it, so I just wanted to spread the word for those who weren’t aware either. :-)

The big 200 2 years ago

I’m at exactly 200 lbs. now from 255 in Nov.

SW: 255 (11/8/2006)
CW: 200 (7/19/2007)
GW: 125 (75 to go)

My current mini-goal is to just be under 200, so I’m almost there finally! I haven’t been this “thin” since I was 12…Gosh!

Update 2 years ago

Well, I’ve finally lost another 10 pounds…so here’s the stats for this update:

SW: 255 (11/8/06)
CW: 205 (6/12/06)
GW: 125 (80 lbs. to go)

So 50 pounds in 7 months…I’d have liked it to go faster, like 10 pounds a month, which it did for a while, but it of course slowed. I imagine the rest will take a good year to come off at this rate. Oh well, slow and steady you know…;-)

Braces 2 years ago

I just got them put on today. I think, for a little while anyway, they’ll be the catalyst in my losing at least a few pounds quickly…I’ve only eaten 1050ish cals today and have no intention of eating anymore. Not that I want to starve, but it just hurts too much. I know it’s not healthy, but whatever…I’m sure it’ll get better later and I’ll be back to eating healthy again. For now, my body will just have to resort to its fat reserves.

Scale worshipping... 2 years ago

I’ve decided the scale is the enemy, although I can’t say that’ll stop me weighing almost every day (other than during my period, which I know is pointless cuz of bloat).

The thing is, I get discouraged when the number on the scale doesn’t go down fast enough. But, I have noticed other pluses in my exercise and eating habits that have paid off. I notice a difference somewhere almost every day: one day I’ll see I’ve lost an inch on my hips, another day I can work harder at my pilates cuz I’m getting stronger, another day it’s that my calves don’t jiggle so much (hardly at all really), and yet another day, I see I can get my bath towel all the way around my body. Oh, I’ve also lost 10 sizes since I started in November, another HUGE plus.

So, because of all those pluses, I should be happy, and yet when the scale stays the same for days and days, I get sad. It’s crazy! So I’m gonna try, everytime I step on the scale and it hasn’t moved, I need to think of one of those pluses and try not to be such a worshipper of that damned scale.
