Wrote a rough draft of my first childrens book.As I happen to know someone who might publish it and an illustrator as well,I plan to finish it before this vacation ends.
It is easy being carried away by the process of teaching- the dubious importance of completing a lesson, or be so much in love with the sound of my own voice that I fail to register the fact that the eyes of my audience have glassed over.
It is quite a challenge to keep the students interested. If I were teaching again, I would like to put love and creaive thought into what i do.Like if i am teacing them “The brook”, make it real for tehm by either taking them outside, before or after the lesson, to spot what they have read of, or pl;ay the souds of brook while pojectinga large image on an OHP…...
I also know that in current fast food education sysytem prevalent in our country, its next to impossible.
In this consumerist society, parents and tyheir kids are consumers of “mark” that we dole out, or with hold.
We teach tehm nothing but how to spotr mistakes- cause thats all we focus on- that and achievement.
I am a Kindergarden helper- a wiper of runny noses, and asses:)
opener of lunch boxes and bottles for tiny fingers that arent adept at it yet. That, in a utshell , is my identity-I put them to bed, and ensure they lie still to take the rest they badly need but are loathe to take..I squeeze fast growing feet into shoes that are outgrowing them.
I also assist during the feeding frenzy.a.k.a.the mealtime.
Thats who I am on weekdays- my entire identity wrapped up in thses two words- assistante maternelle.
But come weekends,I aman actress- a mesmeriser of crowds, a comedinenne who tickles the funny bone making people forget their mundane existence by conjuring up fantastical new worlds. Its heaven.
It feels like a priviledge to be a part of a production- a fact driven home only when the blood, sweat and tears of month are about to bear fruit- applause of the audience.
