I decided to order a bimonthly delivery of a box of organic produce from Full Cirle Farm as a way to buy locally, eat more fruits and vegetables, and try different things that I wouldn’t normally buy. They even send along a few recipes each week using some of the stuff in the box. So, a couple weeks ago I found myself braising rainbow chard and baby leeks, and enjoying a yummy delicata squash with chili lime butter. This is the greatest thing!

I just snuck this in on Saturday when I decided to try out a pretzel recipe and a bagel recipe. I made the mistake of substiting whole wheat flour for the white called for in the pretzel recipe, so they didn’t turn out so good. The bagels took some time, and tasted good the next day but after another day or two had dried out too much and had to be sent to the trash as well.
It was fun to try out, and now it’ll be another year or so before I make some other yeasty baked good.
And I apoligize to my friends that I subjected to the pretzels! I hope they had the good sense to throw them away the second I walked out the door.
I just made a southwestern potato salad, yummy. It’s a nice change from the heavy mayo kind.
