train Dana leave it (so her, the cats, and my shoes can coexist)

so she came “equipped” with some..err “difficulties”. I got her on July 28, 2009 (3 weeks as of writing this) so she is still learning about what she can and cannot do. She was spayed the day we brought her home (at the ASPCA) so we haven’t really been working on leash training yet, which is another goal, since she needed the 2 weeks of downtime. But we are on that now too as it will help her focus and calm down when she is well exercised. She knows her name okay-ish and does an okay sit but a leave it would help us live together 80% better and her and the cats 100%+. Oh and she also knows “off” pretty good as she is always getting on things its easy to train.. haha. It gets really frustrating sometimes when shes howling at the cats and trying to get at them (to play, but she plays rough so that doesn’t help her) and I can’t make her shut up and leave them alone and I just want to throw her outside and forget about her! But I just remind myself that its because she never had a family to love her and show her whats acceptable and what isn’t and that once I work with her we will be able to happily live together. So thats what keeps me going, I’m hoping she will learn this in 2 weeks but we will see. Its mostly on me I just have to commit.
