At my dermatologist appointment the doctor gave me quotes for removal of my two tattoos, and then she offered a deal to do both at the same time. The deal was $500 per session, probably needing about 4-6 sessions. The quotes are good for the next 6 months, but I’m not ready to pay that much yet. I’m wondering if there is any way I could pay for two sessions and then wait a little while and pay for two more next year, or something like that. I definitely want to get it done, but considering how we are having a baby next month, I’m not prepared to spend possibly up to 3000 dollars right now. I’m happy to know about how much it will cost, though, and it’s definitely going to be worked into our short term (5 years or so) budget.

So it turns out that the tattoo removal cream is probably a hoax, which sucks. Actually it sounds like it works at covering them up, but it uses a dangerous skin bleaching substance. Anyway, Daniel still wants to help me get it done, but we’ll have to wait and see. I’ll have a doctor’s appointment in a few months and I can ask him or her to refer me to a dermatologist. One of my tattoos isn’t visible, so it’s not a first priority, and the one that can be seen (sometimes) is teeny tiny, so it could probably be removed quite easily. More news later.
I got two tattoos back in 2004, and since then I have joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Members of our church are counseled to not get tattoos. It isn’t like a law or anything, but I can’t imagine anyone who is an active member getting one, because it is in direct opposition to the church leaders’ counsel. However, if you are a convert to the church (as I am) and happen to have already gotten tattoos (as I did), there is no judging and you are not required to get them removed or anything. I’ve decided for myself that I would rather not have them any longer. I do believe what the church teaches, and if I had been a member back then, I wouldn’t have gotten them. Luckily I did not pay a fortune to get them (I actually got a great deal), and also luckily, I don’t think I’ll have to pay a fortune to get them removed. There are new products available that are at-home, cream treatments that fade tattoos, often to oblivion. I still have to do some more research on these products, but they seem legit, and they are way cheaper than any other method. My sweet husband told me we can make it a financial priority for me to get them removed this year, regardless of the cost, but it seems like it will be cheap this way. It does take awhile, but I’m in no rush. I’m excited to get started!
