Especially with the new so-called wellness guidelines, school lunches usually don’t taste very good.
There are two or three meals where our cooks excel; and that I can’t easily duplicate at home (like the sausage biscuit/macaroni/baked apple delight—yum!) and we get a calendar every month, so I can just plan ahead to eat at school when they’re having something that’s worth the $2.50.
The rest of the time, it’s gonna be sandwiches, chips, fruit, cookies, and a water bottle. Yeah, I know that’s a yawner menu, but it’s the best I’ll probably be able to do at 5:15 am.
