Since I’m not taking classes over the summer, I’ve finally had time to pick up a book again. I finished A Prayer For Owen Meany the other day (which is by no means a classic, but it was fun anyway) and I’ve started Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels again. I love the language in that book.

I actually have some time for this one now, since the semester is over. I have one book that I’m working on but it surely doesn’t classify as “classic.” Once I’m finished I move on to Gulliver’s Travels. I read it about 8 years ago, and it’s such a good book. I’m excited. Then, The Count of Monte Cristo.
I’ve decided that the books I’ll begin with are the ones I was supposed to read in high school, but didn’t. I read The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck about a year ago, and I loved it. Sure, it was long, but it was well worth it. An amazing story. I moved on to Bronte’s Wuthering Heights but I really couldn’t get into it, so I gave up about half way through. I’m reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald now, and I’m almost done. I can’t believe I’ve lived my entire life without having read this book. Now I understand why Mrs. Bloomer was so excited for us to read it. I only wish I had read it then. Sigh.
