I’d estimate that I read close to 60% of what I bought in 2006 (and most of what I bought in 2005) in the past year. I need to sort what I have read and haven’t read, though, or I’ll be very tempted to do a lot more re-reading than what I have done.
I think I bought 30 non-textbook books last year. I know I read more than 15, so I’ve got a good rhythm going, I just need to exercise more self-controll.
To date I’ve bought 15 books in March, so a bit less than one book per day. I’ve made a dent in the ones I’ve gotten in the past couple of weeks (just started on the fifth today!), but I still have stacks of books from last year, and the year before that, that I bought at 80% off spring sales, many of which are still unread.
The stacks should keep me busy for a while. Until my stacks are read, my only new books will be ones given to me, not ones I buy myself (I hope!).
This one will require willpower, and lots of it!
