Greetings,
Part of being you is knowing who you are. Often, there are aspects of our personality that are underdeveloped or that we deny, ignore or even fear. Once we know and accept who we are, we can uncover our true gold and move more quickly toward being whole, balanced and confident.
Here is an article that may help:

Hi,
Here is another article on authenticity. I think I wrote about this before here, but I don’t remember. Excuse me if I’m repeating myself.
In my mind being yourself is about being authentic. If you know who you are, what you value, what experiences you wish to have and if you have been able to accept YOURSELF, then you will be able to continually move closer to being yourself.
I cannot stress how helpful this has been for me. Moving toward authenticity has provided me with a greater understanding of the aspects of myself that I have ignored or allowed to remain undeveloped. I have also come to accept these traits. Acceptance has led to my actually being able to work on uncovering my natural inherent abilities in these areas. Its a wonderful experience. By doing this I also seem to be developing more healthy relationships than I ever have before.
I am now much more stable in the sense of being able to weather the ups and downs of life. By striving to be more authentic, I feel myself becoming more confident and balanced. I have an inherent stability that is more present in my life. When tough things do happen, I find I am able to move through the difficulties more easily. This does not mean that I do not feel pain when there are painful situations. On the contrary, I actually feel the pain more deeply. But by allowing it to be there and actually not running away from it, I also move through it more easily and more effectively.
